Alastor the Hellbat: Concept Art

Various pieces drawn over the last year of a character concept that I've fallen in love with. I hope to one day really improve my skills as a digital artist to make this character my magnum opus of sorts.

Alastor is a character who has psychic powers and wields a laser revolver who fights supernatural threats, under a mysterious mask and moniker known as "The Hellbat". His travels take him all over his world, fighting geists and other malevolent forces.

A recent piece of Alastor that's exploring the designs I've already made, and combines the best aspects. A scarf is always a fun design piece to throw on a character. I've revised the helmet from the last 8 months of concept work. The revolver needs work.

First concepts of my character, where I wanted giant orange goggles to be a highlight of the character, as well as a bat-themed suit. A desert environment was in mind.

A concept shot of Alastor overlooking a very steam-punkish city. Although the world isn't a desert, a few cities are placed there to give a pre-1900's cowboy western look, while adding retro-futuristic aesthetics.

Although the perspective is definitely screwy, I wanted to show how the character works, as well as how his costume was integrated into his movement and mobility.

Further update on the character, this time changing out the hood and goggles for a sort of gas mask design, still keeping the giant orange eyes. Leaned into the bat theme more, tried to avoid a Batman comparison. Added a bandolier.

concept sketch for another aerial shot of Alastor, shredded fabrics are hard to do, I'll need to work on that in the future

A cleaner drawing from the concept, and a slightly different pose. This time the cape looks like a maple leaf, eh?

One of my pieces that shook off the mantle, and showed off what was underneath the cape. This was a scene of an earlier part of Alastor's story I want to explore.
